The Information Services is an integral unit of the Ministry that provides a comprehensive range of programmes and services using the medium of print, radio (vernacular) and new technology to promote and increase public awareness of government plans and policies.

It consists of three sections namely the:

• News Section
• Production and Photography Section
• Public Affairs Section

News Section

Comprise of officers responsible for issuing daily government statements and weekly features to the media, Fiji Missions and other internal and external customers.

The Section also conducts three media-monitoring service (8am, 11am, 2pm) daily for the Honourable Prime Minister, Minister for Information and other members of Cabinet.

Public Affairs Section

Provide research and liaison services to the Minister and Mangement as well as the coordination of media facilitation responsibilities on government sponsored national conferences, summit and events.

The Section is also responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of the Government of Fiji's Official Website (www.fiji.gov.fj) and the Ministry's Local Area Network and also maintains the Ministry's library.

Production Section

The Section is responsible for the production of various publications of the Ministry i.e. the monthly newspaper supplements, annual Fiji Today Handbook, Government Calendar, quarterly newsletter, monthly facts sheets etc.

It is also responsible for the production of vernacular radio programmes on government development and achievements being broadcast in the Fijian and Hindustani languages on Radio Fiji 1 and 2 four times a week.

Photography is also part of this Section.
